The U.S. News Global Education International Scholarship contest is specifically for international high school seniors studying in U.S. high schools. The organization’s most prestigious merit-based program awards winning students 100 percent of their first-year tuition at a participating school, recognition at a ceremony at U.S. News & World Report’s headquarters in Washington, D.C., and priority access to the university’s mentorship and student ambassador programs.
Participating universities include Adelphi University (Garden City, N.Y.), American University’s International Accelerator (Washington, D.C.), Auburn University (Auburn, Ala.), University of Kansas (Lawrence, Kan.), University of Illinois at Chicago (Chicago, Ill.), University of South Carolina (Columbia, S.C.), University of the Pacific (Stockton, Calif.), Florida International University (Miami, Fla.), Louisiana State University (Baton Rouge, La.) and the University of Central Florida (Orlando, Fla.). The participating universities are members of the International University Alliance, a collection of universities that recognize the importance of a truly international campus. Each university offers first-year programs designated specifically for international students, which promote their success through support services and programming to integrate students into the university life. The U.S. News Global Education International Scholarship will be awarded for each of the schools’ programs.
Students submitted their scholarship applications, which included an application, resume, letter of recommendation and a personal essay, for review earlier this month. A council of higher education experts from U.S. News Global Education and the International University Alliance evaluated all submitted applications to identify the 12 finalists.
The winners of the contest will be announced in late February upon the conclusion of the panel interviews.
